Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking

This is how articles on VistaNestDaily are researched, written, checked and updated.

  1. Answer first. Each section begins with the direct answer, then the detail.
  2. Sources. Cost, code, safety and tax claims should link to a primary source such as ENERGY STAR, the US Department of Energy, the IRS, the EPA, the CPSC, the FTC or the local building department. Prices state a region and a month.
  3. Professional review. Our standard is that posts on electrical, plumbing, gas, structural, roofing, lead paint and tax topics are reviewed by a licensed professional or a CPA, who is named on the page with the review date. We are still onboarding reviewers; until a reviewer is named on a page, treat it as editorial guidance and confirm with a licensed professional.
  4. Original proof. We aim to use our own photos and measurements. Stock images are labeled.
  5. Updates. Cost and code pages are re-checked at least every six months. Pages show the date they were last updated.
  6. Corrections. Tell us about an error through our contact form or at nolanwexforrd@gmail.com. We correct it promptly and note the change on the page.
  7. AI use. AI tools may help with research and editing. Every published claim is checked by a human, and no article is published without a human author or editor.
